Name: Colonel Lord Gabriel Gallagher, Esquire, 42nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Baron of Craighall
Age: 36
Physical Appearance: Gabriel is a tall man, who stands at a 180 centimeters. He has brown eyes and brown hair, like the rest of his family. He is almost always seen wearing his kilt, like the rest of his regiment.
Strengths: Experience; wealth;
Weaknesses: Eagerness;
Background:
Gabriel was born in Scotland, as the son of a wealthy landowner. He was the first and only child the man would ever have, and therefore, would also be his sole heir. What he would inherit encompassed a large patch of land in the Scottish Highlands, a minor title and a substantial wealth.
In his youth, a tutor was hired by his father. This tutor taught him not only to write and read, but also Latin, mathematics and several other academics. The man also made sure that Gabriel was in shape, that he could ride a horse and a lot of other things he might need in the Army, as his father had decided he would get a commission in the army to prove his worth.
This happened when he was fourteen. His father bought young Gabriel an Ensign's commission in a Cavalry regiment. This turned out to be not of his liking though and he soon transferred to the 42nd Infantry Division, commonly nicknamed ‘the Black Watch’.
Here, he gained valuable experience, and received a promotion to Lieutenant. As this was seen as ungenteel-like, his father decided to purchase a commission to Captain almost immediately after. Young Gabriel now commanded a Company in the Black Watch.
In the Seven years’ war, Gabriel and the Regiment were sent out on several missions. During one of these, he was selected to bring the despatches to the general staff. For this, he was promoted to the rank of Major. A couple of years later, his father died and as such he inherited everything. He was sent home for a while, to make sure everything was in order, and while he was on half-pay, the Major purchased a Lieutenant-Colonel’s commission.
After his affairs were settled, he returned to the Americas where he became the second in command of the Black Watch. There was peace, now, though. For several years he held the position, until the Colonel saw fit to sell his commission. As often this was offered to the most senior officer first, Gabriel happily agreed to buy it, and with it become the commander of the Black Watch.
Now there is another war, and Gabriel is eager to make his mark again, this time with a full regiment under him.
