Physical Appearance: Nathaniel is a moderately tall man reaching just normal height for this time and age. He has a rugged face and bright blue eyes. Greene’s torso and shoulders are thick from hard work; and his clothes tend to have the scent of forge smoke.Greene has a limp in his leg, which came from the foot bellows in the forge, where he used to work.Therefore, Greene’s does not have the image of a polished gentleman.

Background:Nathaniel was the son of Nathaniel Greene a farmer and smith. Nathanael was born in the colony of Rhode Island on August 7, 1742. Born into the strict faith of the Quakers Nathaniels father was strongly against formal learning. Instead of following the rules of his faith Nathan found a desire for higher learning and educated himself mostly in math and law. When his father died Nathaniel took up the business of forging from his father. In that same year 1770 he was made a member of the Rhode Island General Assembly. He has since been reelected many times to the Assembly. A few years later he married Catharine Littlefield. In 1774, Greene helped organize a local militia. His actions to be in the group was challenged because he long he a limp. During this time he acquired many volumes on military tactics and began to teach himself the art of war. He then revised the law on militia. These actions put him at odds with his Quaker Faith. He has recently been promoted Brigadier General of the Continental Army as an advisor to George Washington. He soon hopes to bring the fight to the British.
