Name:Onondakai
Age:23
Physical Appearance: Onondakai is tall and rather thin. He has long dark brown hair that is usually down or in braids. He has dark colored skin just like the other Native Americans in the area.
Strengths: Cunning, independent, strong warrior
Weaknesses: Ignorant, stubborn, short-tempered
Background:
Onondakai was born in a small village that sat in the middle of the colony of New York. Being a member of the Oneida nation, Onondakai was also a part of the Iroquois confederation. Onondakai’s father led the people as their chief. The people of his village were known for their great victories in battle. Growing up under his father and older brother’s shadow, Onondakai also became a great warrior. He grew up living off of the land. Hunting for his food, gave him stealth and agility as he traveled through the forest.
The settlers around the village kept to themselves and there were rarely any fights. They respected Onondakai and his people and traded with them often. Onondakai admired the white men for their technology. However as more moved to the area, the pressure for the Oneida village to move also increased. The colonist became greedy of the land, threatening the Native Americans that lived there.
Onodakai’s admiration ended swiftly when a small group of settlers killed his younger brother among others in his village. The Revolutionary War had started, the fighting and number of people had increased, and it became obvious for the Iroquois to take a side.
The nations of the Iroquois confederation split, siding with the British and the Continental Army. Onondakai’s father and other Oneida chiefs quickly decided to aid the Continentals for they still traded with them. But Onondakai was unconvinced. Onondakai was sent to aid the rebels, although he made many friends on British side. But he did not forget what the settlers did to his brother. To him both the British and the Continentals were responsible for their deaths.
