Name:
George Washington
Age:
43
Physical Appearance:
Standing tall at 6'2, George towered over many other people. Not only was he tall, but he was also athletic. He had reddish-brown hair and blue eyes.
Strengths: Charismatic, brave, loyal
Weaknesses: Indecisive; rarely smiled; inexperienced; afraid of power
Background: He was born on February 22, 1732. His father was a farmer who moved the family constantly. It was through him that he learned farming and surveying. However, when he was eleven, his father died, leaving him in the care of his older half-brother. When he turned eighteen, he took up surveying which contributed to a love of exploring and the West. Traversing through rough and unknown terrain developed a toughness and persistence in him.
When the French and Indian War broke out in the mid-1750's, George joined the Virginia militia. He actually took part in the battle that officially brought about the war - a rather embarrassing affair caused by his inexperience and led to surrendering to the French. Throughout the long war, he distinguished himself although proving to be indecisive and inexperienced - he was simply very young. He eventually rose in rank until he was in command of the entire Virginia militia. He was tasked with defending the entire border of the colony of Virginia. This war provided him with experience of a long - and oftentimes frustrating - campaign.
After the war end, he met and fell in love with a young widow named Martha. They were quickly married and moved into Mt. Vernon along with her two children from her first marriage.
George was always very charismatic and well-liked though he rarely smiled. He got involved in politics when he was elected to the House of Burgesses and the Virginia Assembly.
Eventually he was elected to the First Continental Congress where, in June, 1775, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army.
